HBOT Testimonials

What tremendous effects Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT) has had for my two children. HBOT has changed my daughter’s life. After 64 treatments you would never guess she was the same child. She has made phenomenal gains in all areas and my son, who has Down Syndrome, has made progress as well in speech and cognition. The staff at the HBOT center estimate my daughter will … make a full recovery. — Susan

Kara, 11, fell 30 feet from a magnolia tree causing bleeding on the brain. Severe headaches got worse [along] with severe dizziness. Kara was able to receive 20 HBO treatments. After her 10th treatment Kara’s headache subsided. By the end of her 20 treatments she was not complaining of dizziness or lack of concentration. Thank you … HBOT for giving Kara a new start. Kara is symptom FREE! — Heather and Jason

Thank you for your support in HBOT. Malcolm[‘s] diagnosis is cognitive delay and epilepsy disorder, gross motor (low muscle tone) and lack of coordination, Sensory dysfunction, fine motor and speech articulation. He has shown gains in these areas and more since beginning this therapy – he has now done 79 total. Malcolm’s whole person has been affected positively by this therapy. – Cordella

Bailee was born 10 weeks early, weighing only 2½ pounds, and was in the NICU for over 5 weeks. She suffered a grade IV bleed and has bilateral PVL and was diagnosed with cerebral palsy near her first birthday. Bailee has significant motor delays as well as some cognitive delays. At 18 months old she was not sitting up independently, rolling or crawling. We decided we wanted to try HBOT for Bailee. Bailee loves going in the chamber, watching Elmo and playing peek-a-boo with everyone outside the tank. Bailee has shown great improvements with her HBOT and, although she isn’t 100% independently sitting, her head, neck and back muscles are so much stronger. She is prop sitting very well and she has rolled over countless times since HBOT. She is using her left hand and arm (which was very limited before) and seems to interact and connect better with her surrounding. We are very excited for her progress and cannot wait for more treatments. – Emily

Catastrophic stroke — ataxic (unable to maintain balance) and aphasic (slurred and impaired speech) … Nick hovered in a coma for five weeks. When he eventually awoke, he was unable to talk or walk.
His parents’ research led them to hard-chamber hyperbarics. The Hospital’s pediatric rehabilitation specialist was familiar with the benefits of HBOT on stroke patients and strongly encouraged the family to find a center to treat Nick. The specialist physician happily wrote the prescription. After 25 HBOT treatments Nick was able to stand and his speech improved. By 45 HBOT treatments Nick graduated from wheel-chair/walking frame and began using forearm crutches. Nick will attend high school like any other student his age.

At two months of age Zachary’s body
shut down and he was without oxygen for 17-23 minutes. His parents were told that many of his body functions and organs may not work properly and that he would go home with a major brain injury. Zachary is far from the whole person we believe he will be, but they are thrilled to say he is not hooked up to breathing machines or feeding tubes; [and] at home with his family. Zachary is 18 months old; he does not sit up, crawl or walk. His parents are currently helping Zach succeed by using HBOT. If you take any time at all to research this treatment the success stories are amazing …

Zero Gravity Chair (optional)

The Zero Gravity Chair was designed for use by NASA in space craft and it is still used today because of its physiological advantages: coping with reduction of swelling in limbs and stress on the heart. Using variable patient positioning almost eliminates the chance of aspiration.

The Sands Series III Zero Gravity Chair was designed with ergonomics as the utmost consideration – for comfort as well as reducing pressure on wounds (particularly pressure sores).

It was paramount to be able to easily load large patients in and out of the chamber. In the real-world clinic environment, 100 lb staff members loaded patients in and out of the chambers with ease.

Once in the chamber, the patient can be tilted to a semi-reclining position, with weight evenly distributed along the calves, so that the patient’s feet are comfortable for the entire treatment.

Experience has shown that patients who are non-weight bearing, comatose or paralyzed have stress-free transfer and loading into the chamber using a HOYA lift. Patients such as cerebral palsy, closed-head and spinal injuries, are easy to load and the chair’s adjustable arm rests prevent them from toppling sideways during treatments.

A removable backrest in the end of the chamber acts as a reclining backrest so that the patient can choose to recline or sit fully upright in any position – impossible in acrylic-tube chambers. There is room enough in the chamber for wound blocks or cushions which can be placed under knees for added comfort. Patients are always evaluated for sheer and pressure and comfort prior to loading them – part of technician training that can be provided Premier Hyperbarics.

Sound Quality

Using advanced technology no speakers or microphones are required. The acoustic properties of the stainless steel are used and the Sands Seriess III effectively becomes a large speaker – delivering concert-quality sound. The deeper the treatment pressure, the higher fidelity. Vibrating dense oxygen uses the patients themselves as a bone-conducting speaker. This has special application to head-injured and stroke patients where the hypothesis is that new neuronal circuits are created to wake up idling neurones (rewire damaged areas). Even deeply comatose patients syncopate to music during treatments. The Sands Series III is the ONLY chamber in the world that uses this remarkable feature.

Patients with Disability

No other chamber on the market is as patient with disability-friendly as the Sands Series III. A large doorway permits easy patient placement and removal by nursing staff. Penetrators continue to give access to TCOM, ancillary equipment and other patient-monitoring devices.

Child Friendly

The feedback from operators and patients is that no other chamber on the market is as roomy as the Sands Series III, particularly with a parent in the chamber. The extra width of the chamber makes it feel like a spacious ‘playpen’ for little ones. Children and adults can watch movies through any of the five concave windows, without the feeling of confinement anxiety.

Cost of Maintenance

With less moveable parts, the cost of maintenance is as much as 50% lower than other hospital-grade monoplace chambers.
The Sands Series III chamber is far more robust compared with all other chambers on the market. Apart from the stability of the steel chamber, the doors seal closed under pressurization, where others require complex locking mechanisms to prevent the doors from blowing off under pressure.
Pressure Seated Door vs Cam Locking Door:  acrylic-tube monoplace doors swing open on an external hinge with a long cam shaft that closes and locks the door. This is ideal for maximizing the internal chamber space but has more of an opportunity to fail. Any significant amount of play between the cam and the cam mating surface could potentially cause the o-ring to push through, causing the chamber to rapidly depressurize. The unique design of the Sands Series III windows and chamber door, which opens and shuts from inside the chamber hull, make a stronger seal when pressurized than an any acrylic chamber that has more working parts and – if not maintained – has the potential to fail.

Safety

In the history of the Sands Series III chambers, there has never been a single injury or fatality. We are proud of that record.

Training

One of the reasons why the Sands Series III chambers have never produced an injury or fatality is because of the thoroughness and quality of the training program for technicians.
